FAQs

  • How do you help with Anxiety?
I believe, from experience, that anxiety in its many presenting ways, stems from past trauma or stuck emotional responses. Or most simply an unconscious reaction stemming from an underlying cause that can be addressed and resolved. A key approach that I use for anxiety, is that I help my clients to understand and reframe anxiety as a symptom rather than the core issue itself I guide clients to uncover the specific beliefs, internal representations or dissociated parts of themselves that are driving the anxiety. For example, if someone has the belief "I'm not good enough" or is holding onto a traumatic memory, those would be the underlying causes producing anxiety as a symptom. Simply trying to get rid of the anxiety symptom itself is less effective than resolving the unhelpful belief or stuck experience. There's no point working on a "sinking feeling" in the body if that feeling is just an emotional response from a core belief of "I'm worthless." By viewing anxiety as a symptom to be traced back to its source, I use techniques like hypnosis, neural linguistics and symbolic metaphors to uncover and transform the specific thoughts, memories, or parts of self that are generating the anxious response. Resolving the root cause makes the anxiety symptom obsolete. If you are struggling with Anxiety and are looking for support, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am here to help you every step of the way.

  • What is the Recovery Wellness Philosophy ?
My Recovery Wellness Philosophy is about creating space for individuals to have the opportunity to be heard in their reality. People who work with me are seen as well and are able to make their own choices and decisions regarding their personal and professional lives. The processes and approach that I use within the Recovery Wellness program do not promise any instant results but the way forward unfolds and develops over time. As my clients start to become more accountable and take ownership of the process of their Recovery, changes in actions, habits and behaviours start to become embodied and part of their personal Recovery plan. My clients are encouraged to shift their mindset in order to be able to embrace spiritual principles (not faith based) , understand their values and connect to their needs and wants in a healthy holistic way. Empowerment that is drawn from your existing strengths, some you may not or have not ever been aware of. My Recovery Philosophy is a place of wellness that aims to assist and support individuals, families, organisations and communities. My professional mission within this body of work is to engage with those wanting to move from a ‘Culture of Addiction to a Culture of Recovery’ An individual steps towards the Culture of Recovery as soon as they have made the decision to seek support and help. This is a dynamic process and is unlikely to head in a straight line. As those I work with engage in the process and begin to make behavioural changes, they tend to progress from behaviours that are prevalent in the Culture of Addiction towards empowered behaviours that are supportive of their recovery and wellness. My role is to hold space and help you identify where you are and where you want to be. Clients have chosen to seek support from me at different stages. Some decide to make changes not because of physical dependence, but because of the negative emotional and mental consequences they are experiencing. The responsibility of Your recovery does not lie with me, but needs to be internally motivated by You. What I am responsible for, is to provide the safe space and curious inquiry to allow You to find your “Why” and then support your “How”.
  • What Does a Session include ?
Client's have the freedom to decide on the content of their sessions. The areas you choose to focus on will be the territory that we cover in our time together. I apply practical techniques to achieve rapid transformation change. I draw on process oriented model based approached of, Modern Hypnotherapy, Positive Psychology and Diagnostic Neural Linguistics to name but a few. Our session will range from 60 to 90 minutes as I ensure that there is adequate time for us to resolve, integrate or complete the work we start.
  • How many sessions do you recommend?
Practical experience has shown me that 3 - 6 sessions provide the greatest opportunity for rapid lasting transformation. We allow time at the end of each consultation to review and assess where you are up to and what you need going forward. Clients decide what support looks like from there. This can be fortnightly or monthly sessions. My aim is not to have you needing to be in long term therapy with me, rather I celebrate seeing you move into an empowered Culture of Recovery, knowing that I am available for additional support if and when you need it.
  • Where are the sessions held?
I offer sessions online via the Zoom platform, or in-person in Hamilton NSW
  • How can you help me with Depression?
To help with depression, I use the method that helped me the most. First, we work together to understand if your depression is situational (reactive) or more biological/chemical in nature. This guides the specific strategies I can use. Next, I would help reframe depression not as a personal flaw, but as a natural coping response when your abilities are overwhelmed by life's demands. This removes stigma. We would then use techniques like the Six Step Reframe to expand your perspective and identify new choices for coping that your current mindset may be blinding you to. Hypnosis and other regulating methods can be experienced to first get you into a receptive, resourceful state before any deeper therapeutic work is done. From my own personal journey in recovering from Clinical Depression, Cognitive therapies are often ineffective if you are highly anxious or depressed. The goal is to update any outdated, learned coping strategies with new, more effective ways of handling life's challenges. My aim is for you to have more choices available than your depressed mind can currently see. This approach is a matter of regulating your state, expanding your perspective, and giving you new tools to respond to situations in a more resourceful way. The depression is a signal that your current strategies need an update. Good thing you're here at the Mind Mechanic.
  • What is Modern Hypnotherapy ?
Modern Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis to help people achieve their goals and overcome challenges. It is a safe and effective therapeutic approach that has been used for centuries and is recognised by the medical community as a valid form of therapy. I often use Hypnotherapy in conjunction with other forms of treatment that I am trained and certified in. It is a state of deep relaxation and focus that allows me to communicate directly with a clients subconscious mind. This is the part of the mind that controls our habits, behaviours, emotions, and beliefs. By accessing the subconscious mind, hypnotherapy can help people make positive changes in their lives. It is a non invasive and trauma informed method that can be used to treat a wide range of issues, such as anxiety, phobias, depression, addiction, weight loss, and more. It is a safe and effective way to help individuals make positive changes in their lives.
  • How does your method of Modern Hypnotherapy work?
The method that I have been trained in works by accessing the subconscious mind, which is the part of the mind that controls our habits, beliefs, and behaviours. The subconscious mind stores all the memories, experiences, and emotions that we have ever encountered. It is the seat of our emotions, imagination, creativity, and intuition. During hypnosis, I guide clients into a deep state of relaxation, which allows them to access their subconscious mind. This state of relaxation is often referred to as a trance state, and it is a natural state that we all experience several times a day, such as when we daydream, meditate, or lose ourselves in a good book or movie. Once an individual is in a trance state, I can then communicate with the subconscious mind, using various techniques, such as suggestion, visualization, and metaphor. I can use positive suggestions to reprogram the subconscious mind with new, positive beliefs and behaviours that can help a person overcome their issues. I used Modern Hypnotherapy as part of my holistic approach in treating a wide range of issues, such as anxiety, phobias, depression, addiction, weight loss, and more. From my own experience and training, I find that it is a safe and effective way to help individuals make positive changes in their lives.
  • What are your ethics in relation to using Hypnotherapy ?
Ethical considerations in Hypnotherapy are of utmost importance to me. Confidentiality is a fundamental ethical consideration in Hypnotherapy. As a practitioner, all client information is kept confidential on industry standard secure servers. This includes any personal information, medical history, and any other details that my client shares with me. It is crucial that I maintain the highest level of confidentiality to ensure that my clients feel safe and secure while sharing their personal information with me. Informed consent is another essential ethical consideration my Hypnotherapy. I ensure that my client fully understands the nature of the therapy, the benefits, and the potential risks. This includes informing them of any potential side effects or adverse reactions that may occur during or after the therapy. I practice non-judgmental and non-discriminatory behaviour. I treat all clients with respect, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or any other personal characteristic. I maintain appropriate boundaries with my clients and avoid any behaviour or use of language that may be construed as harassment or abuse.
  • What is the Conscious and Subconscious mind?
The conscious and subconscious mind are two essential parts of our psyche that work together to influence our thoughts, beliefs, and behaviours. The conscious mind is the part of our mind that we are aware of. It is the part responsible for reasoning, decision-making, and logical thinking. It is the part that we use when we are awake and aware of our surroundings. It is the part that processes information from our environment and makes sense of it. On the other hand, the subconscious mind is the part of our mind that operates below the level of our conscious awareness. It is the part that stores our memories, beliefs, and emotions. It is the part that controls our automatic responses, habits, and behaviours. It is the part that is responsible for our creativity, intuition, and imagination. The subconscious mind is also the part that is responsible for our emotional responses. It is the part that generates our fears, anxieties, and phobias. It is the part that creates our self-limiting beliefs and prevents us from achieving our goals. Through my understanding how these two minds work together, I can help my clients achieve their full potential and lasting change at a deep level.
